5 Ways to Create Lifestyle Content for Your Brand

Sharing lifestyle content shows the behind the scenes of your brand, and gives your audience a peek into how you live your life and do the work you do.

Your dream clients crave authenticity, and they want to feel like they know you before booking you. They’re following you online long before they book you! Of course you’ll want to share stories of your daily routine in a way that connects with your product or service. But use this for talking points in your captions.

Turn your “About Me” page on your website into branded images. While creating this page, you usually tell the story of how you started your business and why, what you like to do in your spare time and the value you add to your clients’ lives, right? Use these details to create visuals for your audience.

So, how do you create content that attracts your dream clients?

1. Document your daily routine.

Do you start the morning with a devotional or meditation? Then a cup coffee? Then check emails? Or take your kids to school? Where do you have lunch? What do you eat?

Where do you work and feel most productive? On the bed with your laptop? At your desk with natural sunlight hitting your face?

Which products do you use on a daily basis? Health and fitness products, personal style, beauty products, jewelry, accessories?

What books inspire you? Who are your favorite authors?

What kind of music do you listen to? Which podcasts?

Once you’ve made note of these, create a “shot list” of you doing them.

2. Gather inspiration.

My favorite way to do this is Pinterest. You can search and pin relevant images that align with your vision for your brand to create a cohesive mood board.

Magazines and even promo cards from your favorite retailers can inspire the look and feel of your brand.

  • Which influencers or bloggers or top entrepreneurs in your niche motivate you?

  • What are your favorite lifestyle magazines and publications?

  • What are your favorite retailers for home, food and fashion?

Flip through the pages and click around their websites for inspo!

3. Create images in a lifestyle setting.

Shoot in a home or cozy space, such as an AirBnB or your home office. Use this backdrop to show the behind the scenes of your business.

You don’t need a perfect home office to create beautiful images of your workspace. You can grab a few office supplies and your laptop for some BTS images that capture your ideal client’s attention!

Also, think about your daily routine when capturing lifestyle content at home. You can shoot in the kitchen to talk about your healthy eating habits, or the in the bathroom to talk about your self-care routine or your bedroom to share how you like to catch up on e-mails from bed on the weekends.

4. Use lifestyle props.

We encourage clients to bring personal props from home that reflect their lifestyle.

Also document what you like to do for fun! Do you like to play card games with your kids on the weekend or go to the movies with your significant other for date night? Bring props to your shoot that can tell those stories.

Also, you can use those images over and over again to chat about relevant topics. For the movie night example, you could use movie tickets, a bowl of popcorn, a photo of Netflix on your laptop...the possibilities are endless!

Here are some examples of lifestyle props:

  • coffee mug or tea cup

  • favorite snacks and a bowl, plate or baking sheet

  • self-care props like hair products, skincare products, makeup

  • letter boards or framed quotes

  • slippers

  • laundry basket

  • journal, planner or calendar

5. Wear clothes that you’d wear at home, but a little dressed up

Wear a cute pair of matching pj’s or athleisure to show what you’d wear on a Friday night or Saturday morning. Think pj’s on and laptop or iPad in bed!

Some of my favorite athleisure brands are: Lou & Grey, anything from Target and Lane Bryant’s LIVI line.

Also, wear business casual outfits like jeans and a blouse, a casual jumpsuit or a casual dress to capture images of you working. Check out my Pinterest boards for style inspo.
