What to Do with your Brand Photos as Soon as You Get Them

The biggest mistake I see clients make when they get their new brand photos is…they don’t use them! Brand photography is an investment in yourself and your business, so use them to grow your audience and sell your offers with ease.

If you want to grow a sustainable business in 2023, it’s important to show up for your audience consistently. When you show up, you stay top of mind with your people, so when they’re ready to invest, you’re the first person they think of.

Just got your new brand photos in your e-mail from your photographer? Create a plan for using them! If you don’t have a plan, they’ll like sit in your inbox and collection dust. Here’s what to do ASAP:

1. Download your new images to a folder on your computer and phone for easy access

Name the folder something like “Q1 2023 Brand Photos” so you can easily find it on your phone and computer. That way, you can upload the photos to social media, your blog, Pinterest and your e-mail marketing platform.

2. Upload the folder to Canva to create your social media, email, etc graphics

If you aren’t creating graphics with your branded fonts and colors, start today! This is an effective way to establish brand recognition and cohesiveness for your audience. Canva is my go-to for graphics. You don’t have to be a graphic designer to create a professional aesthetic. Pro tip: Use the same font pairing and color palette. My current favorite font pairing for graphics is The Seasons and Open Sauce. Create a color palette of about 5 colors to use in your graphics.

You can create educational carousel posts, moodboards, Reels covers and even presentations for your brand.

3. Update your profile photo on all of your social media platforms for cohesiveness

Before booking you, your ideal client will likely stalk all of your platforms. Your marketing platforms are like your storefront, so make sure they look cohesive! Use the same photo for all your profiles, to be easily recognizable.

4. Update your website pages, especially if they’re full of stock photos

Let’s say you purchased a website template, and it’s full of stock photos. It’s good to have photos that align with your brand, but the more personal the better. Update those photos with photos from your brand shoot on your Homepage, About, Services, Contact and sales pages.

5. Update your content calendar and social scheduler with your new images to start creating on-brand content

Create a content strategy to use your brand photos consistently. It helps establish your visual branding and raises the perceived value of your offers. Use can create content like Reels, educational carousel posts, Stories, Pins, digital products, e-mail marketing, blog posts and more to convert followers to clients.
