5 Poses to Try Sitting at Your Desk for a Brand Photoshoot

Planning a website launch, rebrand or creating a new sales page for your online biz? You’ll likely need strong headshots sitting at a desk! Practice the following poses, so you’ll have some variety to choose from at your next brand photoshoot or content creation day.

These poses are perfect for your profile photo, podcast cover, headshot for those speaking gigs and more. And these poses are easy to take yourself. All you need is your phone, tripod and a bluetooth remote (so you won’t have to set a self-timer and run back and forth.)

If you don’t know what to do with your hands while you’re posing at a desk, these are a natural way to look more engaged with the camera, and show off your personality. Zaps the awkward vibe immediately ha!

Save the following poses to your Pinterest board and practice for your next shoot!

  1. Arms crossed on the desk

2. Both arms off to the side, one hand by the face. Add a head tilt for a more natural look.

3. One arm flat on the desk, one hand on the side of the face

4. One arm flat on the desk, one hand in a “c” under the chin

5. Hands framing the face

Pro tip: Keep your hands relaxed at all times. Rather than squeezing your arms, gently touch your arm or face. Keep your back straight and chest out for best posture.
