How to Plan a Brand Photoshoot as a New Entrepreneur

Should you invest in a professional brand photoshoot during your first year in business?

If you have:

  • A simple but repeatable business process

  • A few consistent clients

  • Goals and a strategy for generating leads

  • An aesthetic that you’re looking to establish for your brand

Yes, it’s a good time to schedule a brand shoot! Just because your business is new, doesn’t mean it has to look like it.

Professional photos on your website, e-mail marketing and social channels instantly increase your brand’s perceived value. When you invest in you professional brand imagery, it shows potential clients that you’re serious about building a solid business. Of course, an excellent client experience should match your branding!

How to Prep for a Brand Photoshoot as a New Entrepreneur

Here’s how to plan your brand photoshoot, even if you’re just starting out:

  • Create a moodboard of the type of colors, images and graphics your ideal clients are using

  • Create a shot list that includes your business process and a small part of your daily routine

  • Incorporate props that your ideal client will relate to such as books, quotes and your tech

We did exactly that for Sophie’s brand shoot! She recently launched her business as a wedding assistant, and wanted some professional photos for her website and social media. We focused on headshots, what she does behind the scenes, such as planning and some celebratory shots with champagne and confetti.
